Having researched technology in preperation for next week I surfed across Aldo Rossi's 'Il Teatro del Mondo', which was comissioned for the 1979 Venice Bienalle.
The stage floats and takes elements from Rossi's memory of old architecture of Venice and the floating theatres of the C18th. Visually the outcome of the floating stage is different to my proposed design but the concept is similar.
The proposed floating stage will represent the exchange of ideas and stories that once took place on the site when it was an inland port full of merchants and travellers. Stories and Ideas will now be exchanged through performance.
"Architecture provides a stage for Life, with public spaces acting as backdrops of life's experiences". The theatre acts as a metophor for his beliefs. With neither theatre nor architecture existing without an event, Rossi focuses on the unexpected occurences, the ever changing means of place due to ever changing events.'
